Kyiv, July 30 (Interfax-Ukraine) – OJSC Zaporizhtransformator (ZTR), a large world-class transformer equipment producer, in January to June 2009 increased sales by 20% year-over-year, to UAH 1.669 billion, the company's press service reported on Thursday. The press release says that in the present macroeconomic situation, ZTR's management believes that the key task of the plant is to retain sales at the 2008 level. "In the crisis period, sales tasks come forward, and in H1, 2009 we saw a fall in the commercial activity of our customers in Russia, Kazakhstan, Ukraine and other countries – investment programs in the energy sector were trimmed. The present situation puts forward the task to expand the geography of supplies," the press service said, citing ZTR director general, Ihor Kleiner. He said that the company plans to boost operations on those markets where the plant's products are well-known: Argentina, Venezuela, Vietnam, Egypt and Iran. "In combintion with the traditional markets, we should develop other markets, where programs on the building and introduction of new facilities are being actively realized. The plant faces the task of entering the U.S. market to supply large-capacity transformers," he said. Among the competitive advantages of the company's products are its reserve production facilities, which allow the plant to offer shortest terms for orders and take orders at any time. Zaporizhtransformator has been working on the Iranian market since 1971. But only since 1997 has the plant signed direct contracts with customers. It exports to 83 countries around the world. Since 2001, OJSC ZTR has been part of the Energy Standard Group, the biggest shareholder in which is businessman Konstantin Grigorishin. | |
