Kyiv, July 28 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Ukrainian President Viktor Yuschenko has signed a law on wholesale agricultural markets, the press service of the president reported on Tuesday.

As reported, the Verkhovna Rada, Ukraine's parliament, adopted the law on June 25.

According to the law, a wholesale agricultural market is a legal entity created according to legislation, the purpose of which is to create the necessary conditions for performing operations on the sale and purchase of agricultural goods and signing corresponding agreements.

Only legal entities that correspond to the legal requirements and that are on the register of wholesale agricultural markets can be named wholesale agricultural markets.

The law stipulates the classification of wholesale agricultural markets and the peculiarities of their creation, activity, and regulation.

State support policy consists of the drafting and approval of a program for the development of the agricultural market chain, which is to be approved by the cabinet.

State support also includes the control and realization of measures regarding the creation and functioning of wholesale markets and the provision of accurate information on the situation on the market and the quality of goods, as well as drawing up of trade and biosecurity rules and monitoring their observation.
