Kyiv, August 5 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The State Committee of Veterinary Medicine of Ukraine proposes that only imports of meat carcasses, half-carcasses, meat quarters and blocks to Ukraine be permitted, Petro Verbytsky, the committee chairman, said at a press conference in Kyiv on Wednesday. "We propose it be mentioned in veterinary requirements what is permitted to be imported to Ukraine. These are meat carcasses, half-carcasses, meat quarters and blocks," he said. According to Verbytsky, the committee prepared a corresponding order and submitted it to the State Committee of Ukraine for Regulatory Policy and Entrepreneurship. "We need to restrict low quality [meat] imports as much as possible," Verbytsky said. As reported, in 2009 Ukraine actively imports meat. According to the experts, most of the imports are of low quality. | |
