Kyiv, July 28 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The net loss of UkrSibbank (Kharkiv) in January to June 2009 was UAH 830.665 million, while in the same period in 2008 its net profit was UAH 184.604 million, the bank has reported.

In the second quarter of 2009 its net profit was UAH 21.157 million, which was 5.4 times down year-on-year.

The bank's total assets in the first half of 2009 fell by 8.5%, to UAH 50.972 billion, and its total liabilities dropped by 10.1%, to UAH 45.695 billion.

The bank's statutory capital in the period grew by 31.8%, to UAH 5.28 billion.

UkrSibbank was founded in 1990. As of January 1, 2009, its major shareholder was BNP Paribas S.A with a 51% stake, followed by CJSC Ukrainian Metallurgical Company with a 39.49754% stake.

In July 2009 BNP Paribas S.A. (France) built up an 81.42% stake in UkrSibbank, and CJSC Ukrainian Metallurgical Company (Kharkiv) decreased it stake to 14.98%.

According to the National Bank of Ukraine, UkrSibbank was the fourth largest bank in Ukraine in terms of overall assets (UAH 52.371 billion) as of April 1, 2009.
