Kyiv, July 30 (Interfax-Ukraine) – OJSC Ukrros sugar union, one of the largest sugar companies in Ukraine, is planning to process 30,000 tonnes of cane raw sugar at a facility it owns - the Palmyrsky sugar plant (Cherkasy region), according to a press release of the company.

Ukrros made the decision to optimize expenses for sugar production.

The sugar beet which was to have been processed at the Palmyrsky sugar plant will instead be processed at Orzhytsia sugar plant in Poltava region.

OJSC Ukrros sugar union was set up in February 2007. It incorporates seven sugar refineries and 17 large agro-businesses. It cultivates about 80,000 hectares of land. The company's share of the sugar market in 2008 was 12.8%. In 2008, it conducted a private placement of 19.98% of its stocks and raised UAH 201.93 million.
