13:50 UKRAINE'S STATE EXTERNAL DEBT NOT EXCEEDING 30% OF GDP, SAYS PREMIER
Kyiv, July 31 (Interfax-Ukraine) - Ukraine's state external debt, despite the recent provision of large-scale loans to the country, is not critical and does not exceed 30% of GDP, Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko has said. "In Japan, the United States, and South Korea, the external debt is over 100% of GDP. In Ukraine, after it raised all of its loans, it [the external debt] is up to 30%," she said at a meeting with depositors in Rodovid Bank in Kyiv on Friday. "This means that we have a very high stock of strength, and the country hasn't run up debts that it cannot cope with," Tymoshenko said. She also said that Ukraine has a state budget deficit of 4% this year, while in Russia, it is around 10%.
