Kyiv, July 28 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Ukrainian regions as of July 24, 2009, had bought 100,000 tonnes of 2009 harvest food grain for their reserves, or 6.5% of the plan, according to the Agriculture Ministry. As of the same date last year, the regions had bought 900,000 tonnes of grain, according to the ministry. Currently grain is being bought by the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, and Vinnytsia, Dnipropetrovsk, Kirovohrad, Luhansk, Mykolaiv, Odesa, Poltava, Kharkiv, Kherson, and Chernivtsi regions. As reported, this year the regions are to buy 1.531 million tonnes of food grain for their reserves. According to experts, in 2009 Ukraine is expected to harvest 42-43 million tonnes of grain, against 53.3 million tonnes last year. | |
