Kyiv, July 24 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Kyiv-based Ukraine International Airlines (UIA) in April to June 2009 increased its net profit by 5.1% year-over-year, to UAH 10.37 million. According to a company report posted at the State Commission for Securities and the Stock Market, its net income over the period under review soared by 11.4%, to UAH 487.13 million. In Q2, 2009 UIA saw its gross profits fall by 10.8%, to UAH 33.13 million, although its operating profits jumped by 33%, to UAH 49.65 million. Taking into account the grim results of Q1, 2009, in H1, 2009 the company's net losses came to UAH 18.77 million compared to the UAH 2.73 million in net profit in H1, 2008, and its net income went up by 8.4%, to UAH 848.01 million. CJSC Ukraine International Airlines was founded in 1992. The company has 17 Boeing airplanes of various types: five Boeing 737-300s, six Boeing 737-400s and six Boeing 737-500s.
