13:46 TRANSFER OF UKRTELECOM TO TRANSPORT MINISTRY NOT TO AFFECT PREPARATIONS FOR PRIVATIZATION
Kyiv, July 31 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The transfer of OJSC Ukrtelecom from the management of the State Property Fund of Ukraine (SPF) to Ukraine's Transport and Communications Ministry will not adversely affect the terms and quality of preparations for the company's privatization, the fund has said. "I think that the transfer of the company from the fund's management to the transport ministry will not influence the terms and quality of preparations for the company's privatization," the acting SPF head, Dmytro Parfenenko, said at a press conference in Kyiv on Thursday. He noted that at present some measures are being taken to increase the investment attractiveness of Ukrtelecom. Issues linked with special state communications, property relations with Ukrposhta and the creation of a universal telecommunications service fund are being settled. "As soon it is done, I think that the transport ministry [will go ahead with] Ukrtelecom's privatization," he said. As reported, on July 17, 2009 the cabinet appointed the Transport and Communications Ministry as the manager of the state stake in Ukrtelecom instead of the SPF.
