13:36 TIHIPKO SAYS YOUNG PEOPLE SHOULD RECEIVE STIMULUS, RATHER THAN BENEFITS
Kyiv, August 6 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Well-known banker Serhiy Tihipko, who has announced his plans to run for the presidency, has said that low-income children should be granted assistance using loans, rather than benefits while entering educational establishments. He was speaking with residents of Zhytomyr on Thursday, his press service reported. Tihipko said that poor children were obliged to enter higher educational establishments on their own, whereas the state should support them financially with long-term loans for 15 to 20 years. "If a child is poor, then he has a stimulus – he should be more disciplined and study better," he said. He also said that amid the high unemployment rate, the government should encourage employers to create the first workplaces for graduates. "I like working with young people, and I'm a professional in this. I know what a gold reserve is and what people can be stimulated by. As soon as you hire young people and teach them a bit, they will be in great demand among employers," Tihipko said.
