Kyiv, July 30 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Famous banker Serhiy Tuhipko, who has declared his intent to run for president, has proposed his own solutions to the problems in the Ukrainian farming sector. "The Agrarian Fund and the state committee for material reserve should buy grain at the minimum production cost plus 5%. They should buy and stock it, and when the price grows in winter, sell it. They would gain 10% on the price they paid. The state would earn 10% per annum," his press service reported on Wednesday, citing Tihipko. He said that the reason for the grim situation in the farming sector is the passive position of the state. "Good harvest or bad – we always have problems, as we don't have a state policy," he said. He is convinced that Ukraine has so sector more promising than agriculture. "The amount of farmland in the world is shrinking, and the population growing. The shortfall is agricultural production in continually growing. So we have demand, and this is the main thing," he said. | |
