Kyiv, August 6 (Interfax-Ukraine) - SPAR-Ukraine Ltd. plans by the end of 2009 to open 21 stores of 8,900 square meters in Ukraine, expanding its chain to 55 outlets, the company has told Interfax-Ukraine.

The source in the company did not disclose investment in the expansion of its chain.

The source said that stores of various formats would be opened in Kyiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Cherkasy and Zhytomyr regions.

"The closest opening would be seen at the end of August in Luhansk. A large supermarket at the trade center would be opened," he said.

As of August 1, 2009, the SPAR chain consisted of 34 supermarkets of 23,400 square meters in 14 cities and towns.
