Moscow, July 28 (Interfax-AVN) - The Aviastar-SP aircraft-building plant in Ulyanovsk, Russia, possesses the necessary facilities to resume building "unique" Antonov An-124-100 Ruslan aircraft, planes that can carry up to 120 tonnes of cargo, said Sergei Galperin, deputy chief designer of the Tupolev company. "What is difficult is to resume the production of components for the aircraft," Galperin told Interfax-AVN. "When the construction of the An-124 aircraft was being organized, hundreds of enterprises were involved - not only enterprises in the aircraft industry, it was a national project, and there is still no such aircraft in the world." The An-124 was developed as a military transport aircraft, but a civilian modification, the An-124-100 Ruslan, was also created. | |
