Moscow, August 6 (Interfax) - Russian coal exports fell 1.1% year-on-year in the first half of 2009 to 49.8 million tonnes, the Federal Customs Service (FCS) said. Coal imports fell 37.5% to 9.8 million tonnes. Coal exports in value rose, by 14.4% to $3.85 billion, while coal imports plummeted 56.5% to $180.8 million. Coal exports to non-CIS countries increased 8.8% to 46.4 million tonnes, while exports to CIS countries plummeted 54.5% to 3.4 million tonnes. Exports to the non-CIS rose 32.4% in value to $3.583 billion, but exports to the CIS fell 60% to $266.7 million. Coal imports from the non-CIS fell 90.7% to 38,600 tonnes, and imports from the CIS fell 37.5% to 9.8 million tonnes. Imports from the non-CIS fell 83.3% in value to $13.4 million, and imports from the CIS almost halved to $137.4 million. | |
