Kyiv, July 27 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Retail traders' cash proceeds in Ukraine in January to June 2009 grew by 4.8% compared to 2008, to UAH 175 billion, Natalia Ruban, the deputy head of the State Tax Administration of Ukraine, said at a press conference in Kyiv.

According to Ruban, the tax authorities obtained the data from about 15,000 checks of retail traders in the first half o f 2009.

As a result of the checks, the retail traders were fined UAH 190 million, Ruban said.

As reported, referring to data from the State Statistics Committee, retail goods turnover in Ukraine in January to June 2009 was UAH 103.88 billion, which was 19.7% down compared to 2008.
