Kyiv, August 6 (Interfax-Ukraine) – CJSC Providna insurance company (Kyiv) in January to June 2009 increased insurance claims payments by 2.5 times year-on-year, to UAH 135.2 million, according to a press release of the company.

Insurance premiums collected by the company in the first half of 2009 grew by 30%, to UAH 262.6 million. Personal insurance premiums rose by 30%, to UAH 69.6 million, property insurance premiums rose by 30%, to UAH 125.8 million, and liability insurance by 80%, to UAH 2.8 million.

The company's insurance reserves in the period grew by 30%, to UAH 264.7 million, and its assets by over two times, to UAH 543.3 million. Its statutory capital is UAH 238.6 million.

"According to our forecast, the top ten classical insurance companies in the first half of 2009 will see a 25-30% decrease in insurance premium collection compared to the second half of 2008, and Providna in the period showed 54% growth," the press release reads, citing Inna Brul, the deputy board chairman on strategic business and communications development at Providna.

Providna has been working on the Ukrainian insurance market since 1995. It offers over 60 obligatory and voluntary insurance products.
