Kyiv, July 24 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Kyiv-based Prominvestbank's net losses in the first half of 2009 amounted to UAH 375.211 million, whereas in January through June 2008 it was in the black with profit estimated at UAH 360.046 million. As the bank said in a statement, its net losses in the second quarter of 2009 alone were UAH 155.164 million (UAH 220.047 million in the first quarter of 2009), whereas in the second quarter of 2008 it posted a net profit of UAH 211.692 million. The bank's overall assets January through June 2009 grew by 4.9%, to UAH 27.866 billion, while overall liabilities climbed by 2.5%, to UAH 24.598 billion. The bank's charter capital in the first six months of 2009 soared by 6.5 times, to UAH 1.3 billion. According to the statement, Vnesheconombank of Russia held 75% of Prominvestbank's stocks, while Signus Ltd. owned 12.37% as of July 1, 2090. Prominvestbank was founded in 1992. It ranked 7th among 182 operating banks in terms of overall assets estimated at UAH 32.662 billion by April 1, 2009, according to the National Bank of Ukraine. | |
