PILOT PROJECT FOR EMERGENCY EARLY WARNING SYSTEM LAUNCHED IN ZAPORIZHIA

Zaporizhia, August 5 (Interfax-Ukraine) – A pilot project for an emergency early warning system at potentially dangerous objects is being launched in Zaporizhia, the Head Office of the Emergencies Ministry in Zaporizhia reported on Tuesday.

According to the officials, the first control desk of the system, which allows the immediate processing of emergency calls, has been set up in the city.

"This is object is unique in Ukraine. The early warning system automatically sends an emergency signal to the 101 Emergency Service. Similar systems are being introduced around the country, but the signal there comes to a dispatcher at the object at which the emergency occurs, and we have it sent to the 101 service directly," Head of the Emergency Ministry in Zaporizhia region Oleksiy Lepsky said.

There are some 1050 potentially dangerous objects in Zaporizhia region, out of which 47 have the potential to be a chemical hazard. In addition, the Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant is the biggest in Europe. The system is to be installed at 876 objects. So far, 28 companies have ordered the equipment.
