Kyiv, August 6 (Interfax-Ukraine) – CJSC Obolon (Kyiv), one of the largest breweries in Ukraine, has started exporting beer under the Zibert brand to Russia, Victoria Alimova, the head of the Obolon export department, told journalists in Kyiv on Thursday. "This month we started exporting Zibert beer to Russia," she said. According to Alimova, the company supplied the first consignment of this beer to Georgia in June this year. Obolon plans to export the beer to Belarus and Moldova. According to Vitaliy Tkachenko, the deputy sales and marketing director at Obolon, this brand has performed better than expected on the domestic market. Currently the share of Zibert beer is about 3%. As reported, Obolon put Zibert beer on the market in March 2009. This beer is produced at Zibert Brewery in Fastiv (Kyiv region). The Zibert beer line includes two kinds of beer: Zibert Svitle and Zibert Bavarske. Obolon brewery was created in 1980. In 1992 it was privatized and reorganized as a closed joint-stock company. The enterprise's management owns a controlling stake in the company. In 2008, Obolon increased beer production by almost 4% year-on-year, to 113.3 million decaliters. Its share in total beer production in Ukraine last year was 35.4%, and its share on the domestic market was 30.4%. | |
