Kyiv, July 17 (Interfax-Ukraine) - The number of flights in Ukrainian airspace from January to June 2009 fell by 7.8% year-on-year, to 182,340 flights, according to the press service of the State Enterprise for Ukrainian Air Traffic Management (Ukraerorukh). The number of flights performed by Ukrainian air companies fell by 3.7% to 37,200, and the number of flights performed by foreign air companies dropped by 4% to 145,130, the company said. The share of Ukrainian carriers in the total number of flights was 20.4%, while that for foreign carriers was 79.6%. The number of transit flights went down by 2.6% to 119,520, while domestic flights fell by 2.1% to 15,360. Ukraerorukh was established in 1992. It provides a full range of aero-navigation services in the country, including in international airspace over the Black Sea: servicing air traffic, organizing flows of air traffic, organizing and managing airspace, radio technical provision with communications, navigation and observation, and providing meteorological and aero-navigation information to all flights in its zone of responsibility, which occupies five regions over a total area of 776,400 square kilometers. | |
