17:03 LONDON COURT REJECTS APPEAL AGAINST STOCKHOLDERS OF FC DYNAMO KYIV
Kyiv, July 28 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The High Court of Justice in London has rejected an appeal lodged against President of FC Dynamo Kyiv Ihor Surkis and other stockholders in the club, and agreed that the appeal is exclusively in the jurisdiction of the Ukrainian courts. The club said in a press release that the court took the decision on July 24 after considering an appeal filed by Pacific International Sports Club Ltd. owned by Russian businessman Konstantin Grigorishin against Surkis and nine stockholders of Dynamo. The appeal said that Surkis and other stockholders had allegedly deprived Pacific International Sports Club Ltd. of its stake in Dynamo Kyiv and demanded compensation for the company's alleged losses, the press service said. The club's stockholders, in turn, expressed their objections in the court, and said that the appeal could not be considered in the English courts, as it was exclusively in the jurisdiction of Ukrainian courts. "The High Court of Justice agreed with these objections… The court ruling says that the High Court of Justice in London stopped considering the appeal against Ihor Surkis and other stockholders of FC Dynamo Kyiv and canceled its decision to transfer the appeals to the defendant companies," the club's press service said. Moreover, the court obliged Pacific International Sports Club Ltd. to pay 80% of the defendants' court costs from this case, the press service said.
