Kyiv, August 6 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The price of one square meter of uncompleted housing at a level of UAH 2,500-4,200 offered by the government for purchase and transfer to people entitled to benefits is unacceptable for Kyivmiskbud, Kyivmiskbud (Kyiv) President Petro Shyliuk has said. "We can not offer housing in Kyiv at such prices. We have no housing with a price of less than $500, as the indirect price of one square meter in the company is UAH 8,000-8,500, and we have no other housing yet. Therefore the cabinet's proposal regarding buying housing at such prices seems doubtful. It [the program proposed by the cabinet] will not help save the construction sector. It is not efficient, unpromising and not designed to help the sector," Shyliuk told journalists while visiting uncompleted housing in Kyiv on Thursday. However, Shyliuk said the program as proposed could be implemented in regions where land prices and fund allocation for infrastructure are low. Kyivmiskbud was founded on the basis of the state municipal construction company Kyivmiskbud in 1994 through a merger of 28 daughter companies and other assets. The Kyiv territorial community owns an 80% stake in the company. The company plans in 2009 to get a profit of UAH 11.5 million, which is 53.9% down on the 2008 indicator, and a total income of UAH 1.898 billion. The statutory fund of Kyivmiskbud as of late 2008 was UAH 16.535 million. | |
