Kyiv, August 3 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Head of the State Agency for Investments and Innovations Viktor Ivchenko has submitted his resignation, a well-informed source has told Interfax-Ukraine. The letter of resignation was registered at the Cabinet of Ministers on Monday morning, the source said. According to the letter, which was addressed to Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko, among the reasons for the resignation are the groundless suspension by the government of a program for the creation of a national financial center of Ukraine, the halt to the implementation of a state program for the modernization of capital markets, and the blocking of the work of the National Depositary of Ukraine. "One should note that the blocking of the activity of the Investments and Innovations Agency is not limited to the lack of real support for its work and proposals put forth by the agency from the cabinet secretariat, and the cancellation of the previous decisions elaborated by us and approved by the government. It also is accompanied by a reduction in budget financing by many times compared to previous years, groundless accusations of the misuse of funds, the termination of necessary functions and redundancies," reads the document. According to Ivchenko, the government has lately taken a new decision to cut the number of the agency's personnel. In his letter, he complained of a personal negative attitude to the agency's work from some officials of the cabinet secretariat and advisors to the premier, accusing some people close to Tymoshenko of being guided by commercial interests. However, he did not elaborate. Ivchenko has been head of the State Agency for Investments and Innovations since its foundation. The agency was founded in 2005. Its core tasks are to participate in the formation and implementation of a state investment and innovation policy, and the coordination of the work of central executive agencies in that sphere. | |
