13:45 FALL IN ELECTRICITY CONSUMPTION IN UKRAINE SLOWS TO 9-10% FROM YEAR AGO | |
Kyiv, July 31 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The fall in electricity consumption in Ukraine over the past week of July 2009 from a year ago came to 10.4%, while a week ago the indicator stood at 8.7%. According to a report of the Energy Market state company published on Thursday that during a week to July 26, the average daily consumption was estimated at 17.67 GW, which is 2.04 GW less year-over-year. A quarter before, electricity consumption in the country amounted to 12-14%. The Energy Market said that the leader in cutting electricity consumption is Zaporizhia region – 31.5% in the period under review, while Dnipropetrovsk region is trailing with 12%. The recession is still felt in Kirovohrad, Rivne, Sumy and Donetsk regions, where electricity consumption fall was 16.2%, 15.9%, 15.5% and 15.3% respectively. The decline in electricity consumption of 11.5% was registered in Kharkiv region, 11.3% - in Luhansk region, 9.2% - in Cherkasy region, 8% - in Kyiv city and 8% in Khmelnytsky region. The considerable rise was registered in Kherson region – 11.1%, Chernivtsi region – by 8.9%, Odesa region – by 6.8%, Ivano-Frankivsk region – by 4.5% and Ternopil region – by 4.5%. | |
