12:01 BERDIANSK PORT PROPOSES ESTABLISHING FERRY COMMUNICATIONS WITH TURKEY | |
Kyiv, August 4 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The state-run enterprise Berdiansk maritime merchant port (Zaporizhia region) has initiated the establishment of a ferry line connecting Piraeus (Greece), Istanbul (Turkey) and Berdiansk. The enterprise also offered to form Istanbul-Constanta (Romania) -Illichivsk-Berdiansk container shipping route, the port said in a statement posted on its Web site. The enterprise also asked cargo owners who are interested in their initiative to designate the routes of container shipments and average monthly volumes of freight to be handled. Berdiansk maritime merchant port is located in the northeastern part of Berdiansk Bay in the Azov Sea. The port has nine berths. The length of the berth line is 1.7 kilometers. The port accepts vessels with drafts of up to 7.9 meters and a length of 220 meters. Navigation in the port is year-round. | |
