Minsk. July 17 (Interfax) - Belarus reduced gas imports 35.4%
to 6.057 billion cubic meters (bcm) in January-May 2009 compared to the same
period of 2008, the Belarusian Statistics Agency told Interfax.
The average gas import price was $190 per
1,000 cubic meters in the five months ($213 in the first quarter), up 53.8%
from January-May 2008.
Oil imports declined 3.6% to 8.906 million
tonnes in the period, while petroleum product imports grew 120% to 1.62 million
tonnes. The average oil import price declined 47.7% to $268 per tonne, while
the average price for petroleum products fell 62.7% to $273 per tonne.
Belarus
imported 1.742 billion kilowatt hours of electricity in the five months, up
220% from a year earlier.
Belarus bought almost all of its energy resources from Russia in the
period with the exception of 8,000 tonnes of petroleum products.
