Kyiv, July 31 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The Cabinet of Ministers must include funds needed to finish cleanup measures following the flood in western Ukraine in July 2008 in amendments to state budget for 2009, Ukrainian President Viktor Yuschenko has stated.

According to the presidential press service, Yuschenko sent his suggestions in a letter to Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko.

The president said that, according to the information provided by the Emergencies Ministry, some 3,098 out 7,066 objects hit by the flood still need repair. The total amount of works requires around UAH 1.3 billion.

"Because of the lack of funds, the reconstruction of damaged objects was suspended in 2009, which may cause more destruction," the president said.

The president expects the cabinet to report on the issue in a month.
