Kyiv, July 27 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The net loss of UniCredit Bank (Lutsk) in January to June 2009 was UAH 53.511 million, while its net profit in 2008 was UAH 21.678 million, the bank has told the press.

The bank's net loss in the second quarter of 2009 was UAH 49.209 million, against a net profit of UAH 13.92 million last year.

The bank's total assets in the first half of 2009 fell by 15.1%, to UAH 9.015 billion, while its total liabilities dropped by 15.9%, to UAH 8.244 billion.

UniCredit Bank was founded in 1997. By July, 1, 2009, the bank's only shareholder was Bank Polska Kasa Opieki (Pekao) SA, which is part of the UniCredit Group.

According to the National Bank of Ukraine, as of April 1, 2009, the bank ranked 23rd among the 182 operating banks in Ukraine in terms of total assets (UAH 9.561 billion).
