11:07 UKRAINIAN AN-12 AIRCRAFT, ITS CREW FREED IN NIGERIA, SAYS FOREIGN MINISTRY
Kyiv, August 5 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The Nigerian authorities have released a Ukrainian An-12 aircraft and its crew arrested in mid June this year, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry's press service told Interfax-Ukraine on Wednesday. The plane was arrested due to the violation of cargo registration procedures while being refueled in Nigeria. The media reported that the aircraft, with 18 crates of arms on board, was en route from Ukraine to Equatorial Guinea. Nigerian security officers arrested the plane after it landed in the country. Ukrainian media reported that the aircraft had been carrying 60-mm and 82-mm mortar shells under a contract signed between Cyprus-registered Infora Limited and the Defense Ministry of Equatorial Guinea. Ukraine's state arms exporter Ukrspetsexport said that the arrested military cargo had nothing to do with Ukraine.
