UKRAINE GETS THIRD TRANCHE UNDER STAND-BY ARRANGEMENT WITH IMF

Kyiv, August 5 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Ukraine has received around $3.3 billion as the third tranche of its Stand-By Arrangement (SBA) credit from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Acting Finance Minister Ihor Umansky has said.

"The funds came last Friday," he told reporters on Wednesday.

As reported, the IMF approved the SBA with Ukraine worth SDR 11 billion ($17.1 billion at the current exchange rate) early in November 2008, and allocated the first tranche at that time. The release of the second tranche worth SDR 1.9 billion (about $2.8 billion) under the SBA was approved on May 8, 2009. The IMF Executive Board decided to allocate $3.3 billion as the third tranche on July 28.

The fourth tranche is expected to amount to SDR 2.5 billion (around $3.9 billion) following the third review. The amounts of the fifth to eighth tranches were set at SDR 375 million each. They will be allocated after a quarterly review of the program.
