Kyiv, August 5 (Interfax) - Ukraine had accumulated 22.7 billion cubic meters (bcm) of natural gas in its underground storage facilities as of Wednesday, Naftogaz first deputy chairman Ihor Didenko told journalists on Wednesday.

Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko said on Wednesday that Ukraine would kick off the 2009-2010 heating season with 27 bcm of gas in underground storage.

Naftogaz Ukrainy brings together the largest oil and gas processing companies in the country. The company has a monopoly on the import, export, transit and storage of natural gas in underground tanks, as well as oil transit through Ukrainian territory.
