Kyiv, July 27 (Interfax-Ukraine) – UEFA's Executive Committee will make a final decision on the host cities for the Euro 2012 European Football Championship at its meeting on December 10-11 in Madeira, Portugal, according to the official Web site of the football organization.

UEFA President Michel Platini said at a briefing in Poland on July 26 that in Ukraine, only Kyiv was currently ready to host the championship.

"The UEFA president also took the opportunity at a press briefing to remind the media of the situation in Ukraine, with Kyiv the only city currently in a position to host matches – not including the final – and that the other candidate cities have until the end of November to provide all the necessary guarantees concerning the development of the infrastructure needed to host matches at the tournament, as decided by the UEFA Executive Committee last May," reads the statement.

As reported, the UEFA Executive Committee decided at a meeting in Bucharest on May 13 to confirm the appointment of Kyiv and four Polish cities – Warsaw, Poznan, Gdansk, and Wroclaw, as official host cities for Euro 2012.

Kyiv was confirmed as a host city for group matches, quarter-final match(es) and a semi-final. The final match will be held in Kyiv only if specific conditions with regard to the stadium, airport infrastructure, regional transport and accommodation are met by November 30, 2009.

Three other Ukrainian cities – Donetsk, Lviv, and Kharkiv, will host group matches if the same conditions are met by November 30.

UEFA also decided not to confirm Dnipropetrovsk and Odesa as host cities nor retain them as reserve cities.
