Kyiv, July 29 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Ukrainian Premier Yulia Tymoshenko considers that the growth of prices on the sugar market is the result of dishonest work by the Agriculture Ministry and the Economy Ministry.

"This [the growth of prices for sugar] is the result of dishonest work by the two ministries in the government," Tymoshenko told journalists after a meeting of the cabinet on Wednesday.

According to Tymoshenko, the Cabinet of Ministers is doing all it can to eliminate the monopoly on the sugar market.

According to sugar market participants, in Ukraine retail sugar prices are currently growing. Experts have found it difficult to explain the reasons for growing prices, saying that wholesale sugar prices have been stable for the last few weeks.

The capacity of the Ukrainian sugar market is estimated at 1.8-2 million tonnes a year.
