Kyiv, July 27 (Interfax-Ukraine) – All prospective students should have equal opportunities when applying to enter a university, entrepreneur Serhiy Tihipko has stated.

Commenting on the admission of students to higher education institutions in Ukraine, Tihipko said that some of the most talented and gifted school graduates can't win scholarships because of the high number of people enrolling who are eligible for social benefits and don't have to participate in the admission competition.

Tihipko said that people eligible for benefits should be encouraged to learn through being given the prospect financial aid, but they should still have to participate in the general competition for scholarships.

Tihipko also noted another big problem for higher education in Ukraine, which is the country's large number of universities compared to Europe. According to the politician, this decreases the quality of higher education.
