Kyiv, August 6 (Interfax-Ukraine) - SPAR-Ukraine, a branch of OJSC Cherkasy Trade Center, has reorganized as SPAR-Ukraine Ltd. and moved its head office from Cherkasy to Kyiv, reads a company press release.

"On August 4, 2009, SPAR-Ukraine, a branch of OJSC Cherkasy Trade Center, was reorganized as a limited liability company, the co-founders of which were Cherkasy-based SPAR-Cherkasy Ltd., Dnipropetrovsk-based SPAR-Center Ltd. and Luhansk-based SPAR-Luhansk Ltd.," the company said.

The report says that the key functions of SPAR-Ukraine are coordination of work of all chain's partners, the signing of national agreements on supplies of goods for the SPAR chain, the development of the Рrivate Label brand and attraction of new partners.

SPAR-Ukraine said that at present, a license agreement signed with SPAR International, which covers Ukraine, is being transfered from SPAR-Ukraine to SPAR-Ukraine Ltd.

Each of three co-founders receives a sub-license, which allows them to operate SPAR supermarkets within their regions. By late September, the company plans to issue individual sublicenses to the owners of SPAR supermarkets.

Currently, there are 34 retail outlets of various formats working under the SPAR brand in 14 cities and towns.

The national department of the SPAR International Group in Ukraine started work early in 2001. The first SPAR supermarket opened in Ukraine in May 2002. The chain was developed by Kyiv-based JCSC Center SPAR-Ukraine.

Branch OJSC Cherkasy House of Trade of SPAR-Ukraine has been the exclusive representative of SPAR International in Ukraine as of 2005. The SPAR chain in Ukraine is being developed on a franchise basis.
