Moscow, July 29 (Interfax) - Russia posted inflation of 0.1% in the week from July 21 to 27, the Federal State Statistics Service (Rosstat) said on Wednesday. Rosstat predicts inflation will total 0.6% in July 2009. Consumer prices grew 7.9% from January 1 to July 27 compared to 9.3% in the same period of 2008. Inflation was 0.5% from July 1 to 27 compared to 0.5% in July 2008. Among foods, egg prices grew 1.6% last week, while the cost of chicken, canned meats, granulated sugar and dry milk mixtures for baby food - 0.2%-0.4%. The cost of millet, flour, sunflower oil and cheese fell by 0.2%-0.7% last week. Fruit and vegetable prices fell by 0.8% on average in the period. Carrot prices fell 2.2% and potato prices declined 0.9%. Gasoline prices grew 0.6% in Russia over the week, while diesel prices fell 0.6%. The Economic Development Ministry's revised forecast is for inflation of 12%-12.5% in 2009. Analysts told Interfax in a consensus forecast at the end of June that they thought inflation this year will equal 12.1%. Russia had 13.3% inflation in 2008, the highest yearly rate since the 15.1% recorded in 2002. | |
