ROW AROUND PREMIER LEAGUE NOT TO ADVERSELY AFFECT EURO 2012, SAYS COORDINATOR OF KHARKIV'S PREPARATIONS FOR HOSTING CHAMPIONSHIP

Kyiv, August 3 (Interfax-Ukraine) – A scandal around the election of the leadership of the Ukrainian football premier league would not adversely affect the hosting of the Euro 2012 European football championship, FC Metalist President and a coordinator of Kharkiv's preparations for the hosting of Euro 2012, Oleksandr Yaroslavsky, said in an interview with the Dzerkalo Tyzhnia (Mirror Weekly) newspaper.

He said that premier league president, Vitaliy Danylov, should be dismissed and the situation would improve.

Yaroslavsky strongly denies that the row linked with a court appeal against the election of the premier league leadership, would affect the hosting of the European tournament.

"[The scandal] would impact nothing. These are senseless accusations, screams of lazybones, who try to earn dividends on any big stirs... These are private issues of the Ukrainian football, and this would not influence matches that would be held now in Ukraine," he said.

The president of FC Metalist said that the reason for the conflict was activities of the present premier league's president, Danylov.

Commenting Kharkiv's preparations for the Euro 2012, he said that private investors and local authorities have taken all possible measures for successful preparations for the championship, adding that the success depends only on state financing.

"Everything that local authorities and private investors could do has been done. They've done even more than they could. As for the rest, the Euro 2012 project is in hands of the state. Quicker money come from the budget, less risks linked with December 10 when UEFA seals Ukraine's fate, would be seen," he said.

Yaroslavsky noted that the state should regularly allocate the planned financing of infrastructure projects.

In addition, he said that at present, Kharkiv needs only funds, as the major part of organization issues have been settled.
