Kyiv, July 24 (Interfax-Ukraine) – As of the second half of 2009, Ukraine may start seeing slower growth of the amount of construction and assembly services of 1.5-2% per month, forecasts First Deputy Regional Development and Construction Minister Anatoliy Berkuta.

"We've fallen more than twofold, but started going up slowly. It's my pure professional feeling that there will be no further decline in future – there will be a slow increase. Unfortunately, we've fallen so steeply, but we'll be rising by [only] 1.5-2% per month," he said during a phone-in interview at the cabinet in Kyiv on Friday.

As was reported with reference to the State Statistics Committee, the amount of construction services January through June 2009 fell by 54.9% year-over-year, to UAH 14.935 billion, whereas January through May the decline was 55.8% and January through April by 55.6%.

In 2008, the amount of construction services fell by 16% from 2007, to UAH 64.363 billion, whereas in 2007 Ukraine saw a 15.8% rise in construction and assembly services.
