Kyiv, July 28 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The net loss of Raiffeisen Bank Aval (Kyiv) in January to June 2009 was UAH 1.085 billion, while its net profit in the same period last year was UAH 389.966 million, according to the bank.

The bank's net loss in the second quarter of 2009 was UAH 716.017 million, while in the same period in 2008 its net profit was UAH 54.388 million.

The bank's total assets in the first half of 2009 fell by 12.5%, to UAH 57.223 billion, while its total liabilities dropped by 12.4%, to UAH 50.768 billion.

The bank's statutory capital in the period remained unchanged, at UAH 2.419 billion.

Raiffeisen Bank Aval was founded in 1992. Raiffeisen International Bank-Holding AG owned 95.93% of the bank's shares as of April 1, 2009.

According to the National Bank of Ukraine, by April 1, 2009, Raiffeisen Bank Aval ranked second in terms of overall assets (UAH 59.808 billion) among the 182 banks operating in Ukraine.
