Kyiv, July 31 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The average prices of business class apartments in Kharkiv remained unchanged in July 2009 from June 2009, being estimated at $1,078 per square meter, the press service of Kharkiv-based Avantazh investment and construction corporation has reported, citing Valeria Hulevska, the head of the company's marketing service.

She said that the prices of premium class apartments in Kharkiv grew by 1%, to $1,456 per square meter.

Hulevska links slight changes in the average prices in the segments with the hryvnia devaluation in July.

She said that the price of economy class apartments in the city soared by 7% against June, to $660 per square meter.

"The negative forecast for the Ukrainian economy in autumn did not affect the summer slowdown. Only one of the companies adjusted the price of square meter in an economy class building, where the price in July 2009 was cut by UAH 1,000. The fall in the price [of apartments] in the building impacted the average market price in the economy class segment, where the fall was 7%," the company said.
