PRESIDENT'S 'UNJUSTIFIED' VETOES OF CABINET ACTS PREVENTS IT FROM DOING ITS JOB, SAYS SECRETARIAT OF CABINET

Kyiv, July 28 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The unexplained suspension of legal acts adopted by the Cabinet of Ministers and ungrounded appeals by Ukrainian President Viktor Yuschenko to the Constitutional Court prevent the cabinet from fulfilling its functions, officials from the Secretariat of the Cabinet of Ministers have stated.

"The unexplained suspension of legal acts adopted by the Cabinet of Ministers and numerous ungrounded appeals by the president to the Constitutional Court prevent the Cabinet of Ministers from fulfilling its constitutional functions," the secretariat's press statement reads.

According to the officials, this is illustrated by the fact that the Constitutional Court has refused to start a case on constitutionality of the suspension of the cabinet's resolution "On the dismissal of Ihor Montrezor from the post of deputy defense minister."

According to the officials, the fact that the president withdrew cases on the constitutionality of a cabinet resolution appointing Serhiy Bukhalenkov a deputy head of the State Property Fund and a resolution on amending the law on the production, storage and sale of excise stamps are clear examples of this policy of the president.
