Kyiv, August 6 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Ukrainians in April to June became more optimistic about opening deposits, according to GfK Ukraine research company referring to data collected in the second quarter of 2009.

"Some 8% of Ukrainians have term deposit and savings accounts, with 86% of them being saving accounts in the national currency – an increase of nine percentage points over the number for the first quarter of this year. Overall, results for the second quarter show that Ukrainians have begun to see the current situation as one conducive to the opening of saving accounts," a press release of the company reads.

According to the press release, the share of those saving funds in cash in the second quarter of 2009 fell by two percentage points, to 33%.

Besides, according to the company, due to the reduced number of credits on the market, Ukrainians rely on their own funds while making big purchases.
