Kyiv, August 6 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Ukrainian President Viktor Yuschenko has attended a ribbon-cutting ceremony for a new oil and fat mill in the city of Illichivsk during his visit to Odesa region. "We're witnessing the launch of the most technologically advanced enterprise in the oil and fat industry, at least in Eastern Europe," he said in his welcome address to those present at the ceremony on Thursday. According to the president, the public should be proud that due to efforts taken by representatives of various levels of government, Ukrainian companies, experts, and financial establishments, Ukraine has carried out such a high-tech project. Yuschenko thanked all those involved in the project – developers, constructors, investors and contractors, as well as local and regional authorities. "This is a professional project from all points of view, he said. "This is how one should service Ukraine, the home market, how one should take care of our national jobs." According to the presidential press service, the design and construction of the facility was carried out by Ukrainian companies, part of the equipment was produced at plants in Khmelnytsky, Chernivtsi, Lviv, and Bila Tserkva. Investment in the construction amounted to $100 million. The mill's capacity is 180,000 tonnes of produce per year. Its annual turnover is expected to be estimated at UAH 1.3 billion. Seventy percent of the produce will be exported. Over 200 jobs will be created at the mill when it starts to work at full capacity. | |
