KONTI SEES 26% RISE IN SALES, NET PROFIT SOARS BY 13.8 TIMES IN H1

Kyiv, July 24 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Donetsk-based CJSC KONTI confectionery company posted UAH 399.119 million in net profit January through June, which was 13.8 times up on the same period last year.

As the company said in its financial report, its net revenues from sales in the first half of 2009 grew by 26%, to UAH 898.726 million.

In the first quarter alone, the company's net revenues from sales rose by 31.3%, to UAH 453.766 million. However, its net profit April through June fell by 18.5%, to UAH 15.5 million.

The KONTI group, formed in 1997, is one of the top three leaders on the Ukrainian confectionery market and one of the ten biggest players on the Russian market. It incorporates CJSC KONTI and CJSC KONTI-RUS. Its main production facilities are the Donetsk, Horlivka, and Konstiantynivka confectionaries in Ukraine, and the Kursk confectionery in Russia.

KONTI confectionery group increased its sales in 2008 by 40%, to UAH 2.6 billion (excluding VAT).

KONTI last year saw UAH 194.16 million in net losses, while in 2007 its net profit was UAH 34.13 million. Its net income from sales last year grew by 43%, to UAH 1.819 billion.
