Kyiv, July 28 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The hryvnia exchange rate weakened to UAH 8.17/$1 on Tuesday from UAH 7.955/$1 at the close of trade on Monday.

Currency market operators told Interfax-Ukraine that market quotations ranged between UAH 8.12/$1 and UAH 8.22/$1 at the close of trade. Therefore, after the trade on July 28, the exchange rate of the national currency on the interbank market has dropped by 1.5% since the start of this year, from UAH 8.05/$1.

The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) said it would sell $100 million on Tuesday at UAH 7.75/$1 to support the hryvnia on the cash market. The NBU has sold around $6 billion on the interbank market since the start of this year to support the hryvnia exchange rate.
