Kyiv, August 5 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The Ukrainian government has dismissed Head of the State Agency for Investments and Innovations Viktor Ivchenko, who recently submitted his resignation of his own volition.

As Minister of the Cabinet of Ministers Petro Krupko told reporters, the decision was taken at a government meeting on Wednesday.

As was reported earlier, Ivchenko submitted his resignation on August 3, 2009.

According to Ivchenko, among the reasons for the resignation are the groundless suspension by the government of a program for the creation of a national financial center of Ukraine, the halting of a state program for the modernization of capital markets, and the blocking of the work of the National Depositary of Ukraine.

He also complained about a reduction in budget financing by many times compared to previous years, groundless accusations of the misuse of funds, the termination of necessary functions, and redundancies.

He also pointed to a negative personal attitude to the agency's work from some officials of the cabinet secretariat and advisors to the premier, accusing some people close to Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko of being guided by commercial interests. However, he did not elaborate.

Ivchenko had been head of the State Agency for Investments and Innovations since its foundation.

The agency was founded in 2005. Its core tasks are to participate in the formation and implementation of a state investment and innovation policy, and the coordination of the work of central executive agencies in that sphere.
