Kharkiv, July 27 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Funds for the construction of a runway at Kharkiv airport are to be allocated in the next few days, Vice Premier Ivan Vasiunyk has told the press in Kharkiv.

He said that first funds out of UAH 178 million allocated by the cabinet for the financing of the runway construction this year would be sent to the airport management in late July or early August.

Vasiunyk confirmed that the government would guarantee total financing of the project and other projects that plans to finance as part of Ukraine's preparations for Euro 2012 European football championship.

Famous businessman and DCH construction company President Oleksandr Yaroslavsky said that next year all key objects for Euro 2012 would be completed in the city.

"We have prepared infrastructure for building of the runway. The construction site is ready, the concrete plant is built, the financing is being opened and we, by October 2010, will finish the runway. We'll complete the terminal by June 2010. Thus, next year the aerodrome and airport building complex would be ready," he said.

He also said that the 41,300-seat Metallist stadium would be completed in 2-2.5 months.
