Kyiv, August 6 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The opinions of real estate market experts polled by Interfax-Ukraine vary regarding the prospects for a program on the completion of unfinished apartment blocks in some regions with a readiness of over 70% at UAH 2,500-4,200 per square meter.

"I think that the program is utopian. It's impossible to build high-quality apartments with this [amount of] money," said the president of Kharkiv-based Avantazh investment and construction corporation, Anatoliy Denysenko,.

Another market player, speaking on the basis of confidentiality, backed this opinion.

"This is crude populism, as there are no such prices on the housing market in Ukraine. Maybe they meant dormitories?" he said.

But the director general of the Kyiv-based Pagoda construction company, Klavdiya Bondareva, said that the realization of the program would be useful for the regions.

"This money would bring real benefits to constructors and people who hope to receive long-expected apartments in those regions where there are no additional costs, as in Kyiv. This is a fully logical, correct and fair step by the government," she said.

In turn, the president of Kyiv-based ICD Investments, Serhiy Kasianov, said that this price could be realistic for the regions. The constructors could accept a price even if it meant they made a loss, as it would help them free up money. For example, one can buy apartments at UAH 4,000 per square meter in Chernihiv, and UAH 4,200 per square meter in Dnipropetrovsk.
