Moscow. July 27 (Interfax) - The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) could provide up to one billion euro to Russian regional banks with a guarantee from Vnesheconombank (VEB).

The funds would be used by regional banks to finance support of small and medium businesses.

"We are close to a final agreement with the EBRD on the implementation of our plans to provide 1 billion euro guaranteed by the VEB to regional banks," Vladimir Dmitriyev, the head of VEB, said at briefing following a meeting of the bank's supervisory board.
