Kyiv, August 5 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The Beriks, a ship with almost 223 tons of rotten meat onboard, will leave the territorial waters of Ukraine in 20 days, the Transport Ministry press service has reported.

According to the officials, this amount of time is needed to complete repairs on the ship.

According to the press release, the Beriks is being repaired with closed cargo holds, where the consignment of meat is kept. The ship will not unload the cargo in Ukraine.

The Beriks (under the Ukrainian flag) has been drifting in the sea for more than six months. According to some data, the ship left the port of Poti (Georgia) with 222.9 tonnes of meat in December last year.

The Cabinet of Ministers has formed a commission to deal with this issue. The commission is to report on August 17.
